Live Spot Prices
These are the reference rates every calculator on this site uses, refreshed on load from gold-api.com. Spot is the wholesale paper price — physical items trade around it: bullion slightly above, scrap below.

Troy ounce vs the ounce on your scale
Precious metals price per troy ounce = 31.1035 g. A kitchen scale's ounce is 28.3495 g — about 10% lighter. Every calculator here works natively in grams to keep that error out of your math.
Why quotes differ from spot
Spot is a benchmark for 400-oz bank bars, not a retail price. Expect physical bullion to cost a few percent over spot, junk silver to trade near it, and scrap payouts to land at 40–95% of melt depending on the buyer — the selling guide breaks that spread down.
