Per-gram pricing makes small items legible: a 4.2 g 14K ring at the current per-gram rate is a two-line calculation you can check on your phone in the shop. It also exposes lowball offers instantly — if the per-gram offer is less than half the melt rate in this table, you're at a pawn-shop margin, not a refiner margin.
